The pretty village of Pelynt is just one mile away with local shops and a Post Office, social club and public house with restaurant. We are centrally located for easy exploration of Cornwall and Devon and attractions such as the Lost Gardens of Heligan, the Eden Project and many National Trust properties. 

Part of the Cornish countryside for more than 300 years, Cartole Cottages are situated along the south Cornish coast, an area that has a great heritage of tales and legends of fishing and smuggling. Our collection of six self catering holiday cottages, converted from the original barns and stables, await you. Come and create your own stories and memories.

We are happy to accept well behaved dogs, over 1 year of age, by arrangement​​​​​​ (except in Shippen Cottage). 

Our cottages are....

Old Stable (sleeps 2)

The Old Stable is a small, cosy holiday cottage for two, perfect for romantic short breaks and holidays for couples wanting to take in the best of Cornwall. Converted from the farm’s old stable, this holiday cottage has original exposed Cornish stonework and a character unique to these parts. With all rooms on the ground floor, it is also ideal for those looking for an accessible place to stay. You will enter the cottage through the porch and step into the lounge, which has a comfortable settee, flat screen TV and dining area. The well-equipped kitchen area has a built in oven with ceramic hob, microwave, refrigerator and DAB radio with ipod dock. Walk through the door you’ll find yourself in the cosy double bedroom, with hotel quality, pocket sprung mattress and en-suite shower room which has a luxurious heated floor and a power shower.

Parking is conveniently just outside the cottage and there are views of the garden from the windows.

Please note that this cottage is not suitable for large breeds of dog. 

Penny’s (sleeps 4)

Small, but perfectly formed, Penny’s cottage may be our smallest two bedroom cottage but it is full of charm and character which come from it’s original Cornish stonework, exposed beams and original features. Converted from an old cow byre around 40 years ago, it is thought to have been named after a favourite horse, which once pulled the plough on the farm. 

The sitting/dining room has a cottage style suite, a 32 inch flat screen TV, with DVD player and video. There is a separate, well equipped kitchen, which has a built in oven with ceramic hob, microwave, fridge freezer, extractor fan, and plinth heater. The ground floor bathroom has a bath with a shower over, underfloor heating, a heated towel rail, shaver point and fan heater. The first floor, double bedroom has far reaching countryside views and often sheep can be seen grazing just over the fence. The twin room has views over the garden. All beds have quality pocket sprung mattresses and quality bed linen. Situated next to a very large lawn, it is a true favourite with families who wish to savour the freedom Cornish countryside can offer. There is an outside seating area, perfect for al fresco dining and star gazing on a dark Cornish night. 

There is parking for one car outside of the cottage.

The Shippen (sleeps 4 + cot)

The largest of our two bedroom cottages, Shippen is spacious and has a generous lounge, with a beamed ceiling and dining alcove. Shippen was converted from one half of the original large, farm barn. You will enter into the attractive and well-equipped kitchen, which has a dishwasher, fridge freezer, microwave, extractor hood, plinth heater and a Pure DAB radio with ipod/ipad dock. Then, through into the spacious, lounge-dining room you will find two large, sumptuous, leather settees, perfect for relaxing after a busy day exploring Cornwall.

The cottage is electrically heated and there is a feature flame effect, electric fire, to keep you warm on a cooler Cornish winter night. The lounge has a flat screen TV with Freeview, a DVD player and a Video player.

On the first floor are the double bedroom, a twin bedroom and the bathroom. Both bedrooms are dual aspect and have far reaching countryside views and views over the garden. The double bedroom is a very generous size and has room for a cot. All beds are fitted with hotel quality, pocket sprung mattresses. The bathroom has a bath with shower over, heated towel rail, shaver point and a fan heater.

There is an allocated parking space for Shippen. 

Kernewyck (sleeps 4 + cot)

Kernewyck was created from one half of the original large farm barn, and so, offers plenty of space to those looking to holiday as a family. One of our larger cottages it sleeps 4, plus a cot.  From the enclosed outside seating area you’ll enter the cottage. Kernewyck has a very large lounge, with beamed ceiling, two comfortable leather settees, a flat screen TV with Freeview, DVD and video player, a Pure DAB radio with iPod/ipad dock and a dining area.

The cottage is electrically heated and there is a flame effect electric fire for added warmth if required. The compact, well-equipped kitchen has a built in oven with ceramic hob, refrigerator, microwave and plinth heater. The ground floor bathroom has a bath with shower over, heated towel rail and fan heater. On the first floor is the double bedroom and twin bedroom, which have far reaching, countryside views and views over the gardens. All beds have hotel quality, pocket sprung mattresses and cotton bed linen. The double bedroom has space to take a cot.

There is an allocated parking space for Kernewyck, conveniently located just outside the door. 


Linney (sleeps 4)

Converted from what is believed to have been the old cart shed, this holiday cottage retains some of the original Cornish stone work and has a beamed ceiling in the lounge and kitchen. Linney cottage is entirely on the ground floor and, like The Old Stable, is ideal for someone who finds stairs a challenge.

The lounge/dining room has two comfortable settees, a flat screen TV with Freeview, DVD, video player and a Pure DAB radio with ipod/ipad dock. The cottage is electrically heated and has a coal effect, electric fire for supplementary heating if required. One step down from the lounge is the well equipped kitchen which has a built in oven with ceramic hob, fridge, microwave and plinth heater. There is a double bedroom and a twin bedroom accessed from the lounge which have hotel quality, pocket sprung mattresses. The bathroom has a bath with a shower over, heated towel rail, fan heater and shaver point. There is a lawned area to the side of the cottage, with a patio table and chairs, which is an ideal area to spend quality family time in a safe environment.

Parking is conveniently just outside the door. 


Caro’s (sleeps 6 + cot)

Caro’s is our largest cottage, ideal for families wanting to spend quality time together. Like Penny’s cottage this cottage was reputed to have been named after an old cart horse which once worked the land at Cartole Farm. You’ll approach the cottage by seven steps and a pathway. The cottage is situated alongside a large lawn, with far reaching views across the fields, perfect for a restful break, watching the children as they play. The cottage has an outside seating area for al fresco dining or star gazing on a dark night.

Centrally heated, the cottage has a large ground floor double bedroom with space for a cot and en-suite shower room with heated towel rail and fan heater. The double bed has a hotel quality pocket sprung mattress. The large lounge has two comfortable settees and a chair plus a flat screen TV with Freeview, DVD player and video player. There is a modern, flame effect electric fire to keep you warm during the more wintery Cornish nights. The downstairs bathroom has luxurious under-floor heating, a bath with shower over, heated towel rail, shaver-point and fan heater. Follow two steps from the entrance hall and you will find the large well-appointed kitchen/ dining room, which boasts a built in oven with ceramic hob, extractor fan, dishwasher, fridge freezer, microwave and a DAB radio with ipod/ipad dock. On the first floor is a twin bedroom, with hotel quality, pocket sprung mattresses and beautiful countryside views from the window. The second bedroom has bunk beds, a vanity unit and views over the garden.

There are two allocated parking spaces for Caro’s.
