West Looe

In the first episode of Beyond Paradise we see PC Kelby Hartford jumping into a boat and crossing the river from East Looe to West Looe while chasing a suspect.

He catches him close to the fire station which appeared in episode 5 where there were arson attacks on 3 places including Archie’s winery. Crossing back over to East Looe you will find many of the other locations used in the series.

Looe Guildhall

The Looe Guildhall features in all episodes of Beyond Paradise because it is the location of Shipton Abbot’s police station.

It is here that Humphrey and his team discuss cases. Just outside the building is the location of the outdoor market featured in some of the episodes and also where Humphrey and Ester sit to discuss the arson attacks in episode 5 and where he shows her how the fires were started.

East Looe Quay

Coming out of the police station you come into the Rose Garden and then turning right you will see the fish market.

It is here that we see PC Kelby Hartford chasing another suspect through the market and up the quay before losing him and is also close to the net storage facilities that we see PC Hartford in while interviewing a woman about a break in during episode 5 of Beyond Paradise.

Looe Banjo Pier

The Banjo Pier in Looe , named for its unique banjo-like shape, was designed in 1896 by Cornish architect and engineer Joseph Thomas. Built to prevent silt from blocking the river mouth and restricting harbor access, the innovative circular-end pier proved highly effective.

The Banjo Pier is seen when Martha is talking to her mum.

Looe Beach

Looe has plenty of stunning beaches to visit. If you walk along the quaint streets with its array of cafes and restaurants offering delicious light snacks, lunches, and refreshments right to the end of the Looe, it will bring you out onto Looe Beach, also known as East Looe Beach. This popular family beach has something for everyone.

This fabulous beach is sheltered from the west by the famous Banjo Pier, with its soft sand and clear shallow waters it offers safe swimming, with the eastern end providing a perfect setting for the rock pool adventurers and climbers. The beach has toilets nearby.

Please note, the sandy beach does not permit dogs however, you can walk via the seafront to the rockier ‘little beach’ on the left hand side of Banjo Pier, where furry friends are welcome!

Looe Beach is the location where Martha took her yoga class and is seen talking to her mum at the beginning of episode 5.

It is also where Humphrey sat in episode 6 after Martha broke off their engagement.

Just down from here on the seafront was where Humphrey and Archie had their fight after Archie in episode 5 admitted to kissing Martha.
